What is an Annual Return?

An annual return is a yearly update that every New Zealand company must file. Its purpose is to confirm your company details are still correct. It has nothing to do with the company's trading or income - it is not a tax return and is separate to the returns filed with IRD.

As part of the annual return, you'll confirm the following for the company:

  • Company addresses
  • Director details
  • Shareholder details
  • Other details like trading names, business activities etc.

The filing month for every company is different. To check when your company's return is due, use the form below.
